On January 27, 2020, Hurliherzistan was almost plunged into its first civil war. Citizen Aaron Lipp said publicly that he would try to secede from Hurliherzistan with the new province once it was approved. The Consul of War, Cole Gilbert, was ordered to begin a partial mobilization of the military around 09:40 under the authorization of Supreme Consul Jack Herz. The lists of active and reserve personnel were also updated within the next hour. Between 10:45 and 11:10 the Consul of Foreign Affairs, Matthew Ring, and Consul of Immigration, Sammie Staudinger, were notified about the situation. In this time, Hurliherzistan went to DEFCON 4 and a total mobilization of the navy occurred. During a negotiation between Mr. Lipp and the Supreme Consul himself, they came to an agreement which was publicly announced at 14:25. Supreme Consul Jack Herz announced that Mr. Lipp said that he would not start a civil war if he was elected to the Senate. When asked whether he thought it was a threat, the Supreme Consul answered no. He believes, "Mr. Lipp has widespread support throughout the new province, I suspect that he will get elected, with or without his threats. That said, I most definitely do not endorse his candidacy, and if he tries to secede he will be met with blood and steel." Around 15:00 all mobilization was cancelled and Hurliherzistan went back to DEFCON 5. It seems as though normalcy has returned to Hurliherzistan.
