On October 21, 2019, reports started coming in about voter apathy. In the recent weeks and months, many of the candidates for Supreme Consul have dropped out of the race, leaving only two candidates, Jack Herz and Henry Herz. This reduction in the choice of candidates have left many citizens feeling that their beliefs are unrepresented. Grand Magistrate Jack Herz had this to say, "Democracy is at the heart of this nation. Without democracy, Hurliherzistan has nothing. It is more important than winning or losing, and I would rather every Hurliherzistani citizen vote than win the election. So, when I heard these rumors about apathetic voters, I decided to talk to one of them." The citizen in question refused to vote, until Grand Magistrate Herz reminded them that they could write-in candidates. Since then, they have been spreading the idea that the nation should elect Barack Obama, 44th President of the United States of America, for Supreme Consul. The Grand Magistrate was glad to see the apathy disappearing, even though it seemed as though some citizens would be voting for someone who is not a citizen of the nation. As a solution to this, he, with the Supreme Consul's approval, has assured the citizenry that, if Barack Obama wins the election, the government will send him a letter asking him to become Supreme Consul and granting him honorary citizenship to the Republic of Hurliherzistan.
